Healing Testimony Catherine Brown These last twelve days or so have been a complete whirlwind of God's inspired activity choc full of blessings and also some challenges. Jesus remains beautiful throughout them all. We have so enjoyed hosting our missionary friends Ron and Ana Ogren and serving them as they ministered God's love in our nation. Thank you for all your prayers. We appreciate you more than you know. I pray for all our Gatekeepers on a regular basis and thank God in every remembrance of you. It is always inspiring to watch Jesus transform lives through the sharing of testimony. Ron sustained horrific injuries during a construction accident some years ago which broke almost every bone in his body, blew a hole in his heart and 'French fried' his lungs. Ron's heart stopped seven times in hospital and on the seventh occasion a death certificate was issued and Ron was put in a body bag and taken to the morgue. At that precise moment the Lord raised up intercessors around the world to pray with fervency for Ron's life. The Spirit of the Lord prompted a nurse in the hospital to go down to the morgue, unzip the body bag and pray for Ron. Taking his hand in hers and with trembling faith, the nurse prayed out and the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, breathed life back into Ron and his heart started to beat again. Ron was on life support for three months, and was able to breathe only because of the 'iron lung'. Ron was told he would never walk again and that he might never talk again (because of the tracheotomy). His backbones were totally broken and shattered but the Lord put them all back together again and an MRI scan confirmed this. Ron contracted the AIDs and Hepatitis C virus through the seven blood transfusions he had been given during his emergency treatment. The Lord healed Ron's blood and he is now completely AIDs and Hepatitis free. When Ron was in a wheelchair he could barely lift his hand yet with the little movement he had he would lay hands on other paralyzed people and they would get up and walk. More than 100 paralyzed people left the hospital completely healed! After the initial three months the Lord did a miracle in just 6 weeks or so, allowing his servant to walk and talk and be totally healed. To see Ron today you would never know what he underwent. In fact as he careered around my kitchen on Daniel's stilts I just giggled out loud thinking how glorious the miracle working power of Jesus is. Ron walks and talks and breathes because of the magnificent love of our Savior. All things are possible to him who believes! HELP ME OVERCOME MY UNBELIEF Many folks are just bowled over when they hear Ron's testimony but others struggle with unbelief. How can Jesus help us overcome our unbelief? The answer lies in Scripture. In Mark 9 we read how the disciples were unable to heal a young boy: "Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not." "O unbelieving generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me." So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth." Mark 9:17-19 Jesus was not perturbed. Noisy and attention demanding as the spirit in the boy may have been, it did not distract the Lord at all. Jesus remained focus on being about his Father's business and went on to have a conversation with the boys' father. Interestingly Jesus asked questions about the boy's condition. "How long has he been like this?" receiving the answer, "From childhood." It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything. Take pity on us and help us." (v 21-23) The demon, a messenger from hell, had tried to rob, kill and destroy the life of this child but Jesus had another plan. God has the power to deliver us from the enemy's torments! THE WONDERING WORKING POWER OF CHRIST'S COMPASSION Human sympathy may bring a measure of comfort but it is only the wonder working power of Christ's compassion that can break the chains of bondage on our lives. Jesus was so kind to both the boy and his father. He gives us the answer to our unbelief in his words of faith, "If you can?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes." V23 The boy's father had a choice to believe Jesus could help him in his faithlessness or he could have rejected the faith gift offered by Christ. In grace he chose wisely and with no hesitation he exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief." V24 The boy's dad did not yet 'feel' faith but he spoke out with faith that he believed and wanted Jesus to help him to overcome his lack of faith! Mercifully, Jesus' response was as immediate as the hurting father's. It's important for us to realise that we are not ruled by feelings, but that we respond to circumstances with spiritual understanding and truths, inspired by the Holy Spirit. "When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the evil spirit. "You deaf and mute spirit," he said, "I command you, come out of him and never enter him again." The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, "He's dead." But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet and stood up." V25-27 THE HANDS OF CHRIST LIFT US UP IN VICTORY There are areas in each of our lives in which we may be unhearing of the Lord's best for us and/or unable to see the overarching grace of God in our situations. Just as he did for the young man, Jesus does for us today - he comes to deliver us from oppression of all kinds whether that be emotional, spiritual, physical or mental. He exercises his authority and commands the cleansing and healing of our hearts and lives. The violence of the kingdom of darkness is overcome in the mighty love of Christ. Jesus takes us by the hand and lifts us up out of dead works, dead ways, and dead dreams and into his life giving resurrection power and purposes. When the Lord heals us, it is for eternity. Later that day the Lord helped his disciples understand that they needed to reach a new place of surrender in prayer and fasting in order to see the demonized delivered. Christ our King of Kings, releases intercession on his church today to pray the prayers that shake heaven and change earth. Heart by heart, home by home, he is calling the nations to fellowship and holy friendship with Himself. The King is coming in glory and in power, with compassion and healing in his hands to revive the earth. SHARE YOUR TESTIMONY! "They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death." Rev 12:11 Beloved, each one of us has a wonderful testimony. Use yours to share the love of God with others in need. Be a brave heart for Jesus and receive his peace afresh today. As Ron would say, "there are no special people - only a special God." I like that. It keeps us in the place of Godly affirmation and acceptance. God has no favorites and loves his children in an unbiased and unconditional manner. I do pray that each one of you will experience a fresh wave of God's love and grace this morning. Father, release your miracle anointing across the continents of the earth and loose a mighty wave of faith upon your bride to heal, save and deliver in Jesus precious name. Amen.
